Akla Düşen Düşünceler No:20100328 - EN-Bİ

[English version is at the bottom.]

Kampanyalarının adı "Be Stupid".

A Takımı geliyor! Çocukluğumun televizyon dizisi, hey gidi! Deliler gibi izlerdim A Takımı'nı küçükken. A Takımı, Görevimiz Tehlike, Karaşimşek, MacGyver... A Takımı'nın bu yeni filmi güzel olacağa benziyor.

Gelecekteki evimde, girişteki duvarlardan birine gömme bisiklet yaptırmak istiyorum. Böyle yarı yarıya duvara sıkışmış gibi. Renk mavi olabilir.

Fablamaca ADD'ye geri dönüş yaptı, tamam.

Saygılar;

-------------------------------------

Fablamaca decided to go back to ADD. (Ofcourse, it doesn't make sense.)

What is ADD? I need to find an English equivalent. Maybe I can call "The Thoughts That Fell In My Mind". TTTFIMM. Boy, that's funny! So this is a concept which I share small thoughts which are not enough to cover a whole story but also valuable enough not to share.

As you can guess, Turkish and English thoughts will sometimes be slightly different. Sometimes not similar at all. Some of these thoughts won't make any sense in English like some other thoughts will not make any sense in Turkish. So, lets get going.

En Bi Hediyelik, a Turkish souvenir supplier company and also famous with their good quality pashminas and scarves, is preparing to give hundreds of rewards out via raffle to their fans. Only thing you need to do is to become a fan of their facebook page. You can reach the connection from here: Click!

Diesel has a brilliant campaign at the moment. I got this fantastic detail via video on facebook which posted by Bengü and it was too good not to share. It is called "Be Stupid". Already sounds good, eh? They have a very good subject (be stupid, watch the video) and they supported this with a simple but attractive website. In the website there is also a box which you can create your own poems with the given words but it's not so easy because your words are limited. You can save your poems to leave in the website so everybody can see and also you can download you image into your computer. There are my poems:

I listened Turkey's Eurovision song. I'm not so sure about it. What do you think? (I also listened the Turkish version and found it is actually a good song but it doesn't have the same spirit in English. I think it's a hard job to derive a song to another language from it's original language and in my opinion shouldn't be done.)

A-Team is coming! TV show of my childhood. I was crazy about them. A-Team, Mission Impossible, Night Rider, MacGyver... Good old days. This new film about A-Team seems to be a good one.

I want a pressed bike, integrated to the wall in my future apartment. Colour may be blue...

Fablamaca returned to TTTFIMM, over.

Photo Challenge No:1 - Black & White

[Türkçesi aşağıda...]

Hello there!

Last wednesday I decided to challenge Kasia on a special photo challenge. You know Kasia, right? --> http://worqshop.blogspot.com/

Rules were simple:

- Who ever gets the best picture by voting wins.
- You have only one hour.
- You have to go around together. (So we'd end up with the same environment to picture.)
- You have a theme. (This time it was Black & White)

I'll be publishing our challenges from here for you to vote, so you'll decide who wins. Everytime we will choose 3 photographs each and I will put them here anonymously. By this means, you will not know who you are woting for. Fair enough?

There is a poll on the top right corner of the page. You can vote for only one photograpgh, choose the best. We also appreciate any kind of comments from you.

This is enough idle talk, eh? Here they are, the pictures of our very first photography challenge:

Challenge No:1 - Black & White

 (1) teddy by the window

(2) in her shoes

(3) early racing

(4) the bags

(5) antiques

(6) coffee break

Don't forget to vote! We are counting on you!

See you next time...

Herkese selam!

Geçen çarşamba Kasia'yı bir fotografi yarışmasına davet ettim. Artık Kasia'yı tanıyoruz, değil mi? -->; http://worqshop.blogspot.com/

Kurallar basit:

My Dear Friends

I love my friends!

Do you love your friends?

First I wanted to introduce my new friend "browny" to you but then I though, "Why just him?" I have many more friends and yet they've been great and humble servants to me for a long time. So they deserve to be mentioned here.

What can I say? We are always together. I don't even go out without one of them. They always keep a good company and try to comfort me in any circumstances. They don't moan, don't complain. For them I'm always the first, always above.

My first friend I'll introduce is an old one. He's been with me since 2006 May and it's a long, long time. We've been to many places, many trips, many parties and many different weather conditions together and he proved himself as a strong, reliable and comfortable friend.

His name is “My Brown Adidas”. He was a birthday present to me from my sister, Esra. I never had a friend like him before, so I wasn't so sure at the beginning of our friendship but in time he proved me wrong. He was with me when I left Turkey for first time and came to England! I was wearing him when I visited London first time. He came with me to cold Stockholm in April 2008 and to the Netherlands straight afterwards. He kept my company in Mayfield, in Hever Castle, in Austria, in first time in Maidstone, in Germany, in Eastbourne, in Dunorlan Park, in my second time in York, under the Winnie the Pooh Bridge, when we played kabaddi first time in Rye, Camber Sands, for many times for ceroc, in Bodiam Castle, on the top of Seven Sisters, in Groombridge, in Ramsgate for camping and in Canterbury on the way back, when I played cricket for first time, in my second tour around England through Newcastle, Edinburgh and Belfast, in Warsaw and Krakow, in Hastings, in Tunbridge Wells and so on. He had been my favourite fellow traveller for a long time and now he is retired. He'll stay with me but he will give himself to sporty activities like running and playing football. God bless you my dear friend.

My next friend I'd like to introduce is also an old one: “My Green Nikes”. He is not less as a comrade than My Brown Adidas. Funny thing, our friendship was actually arranged by my sister. We'd never seen eachother until my sister came over with him to our house one day. Complete match! I never regreted. He companied me on my first “on my own” trip around England and Scotland which I visited Oxford, York, Edinburgh, Highlands, Loch Ness, Liverpool, Cornwal, Plymouth, Bournemouth, Salisbury and Stonehenge. Ofcourse we've been to many other places and he's been an excellent friend to me. He has so many stories to tell. I'm sure there'll be many other places to visit together. God bless you too my dear friend.

I'd also like to remember 2 other friends who are not among us anymore. First of all “My Black Leather Converses” who was my choise for a tough winter in İstanbul over boots and he managed to came to England with me and took part in many trips such as Winsdor Castle and Brighton trips but like all Conversekind, he lost his life too soon. After him “My Shiny Football Boots” who served me so well in all sporty activities like football, running and even tennis. One day I left him on recycling box and he misteriously vanished. I'm so sorry my friend. I only hope they are happy where they are as they truly deserved...
Here my other friends' pictures. They all have their stories but there is too much to tell. There are many more who are not with us anymore and they don't even have photos. Pity...
My Converselike Peacocks. We met in Cardiff while I was travelling with Kasia in Wales. He filled the Converse gap successfully but now he is so ill. God bless you my friend.

My Smart Shoes on the left and Skinnies on the right. They both serve well in their areas.

My Extra Shoes. Although I don't wear him often, he companied me very friendly in cold Mayfield days in the house when I didn't have any slippers. We met in "first maidstone day" which also makes him special.

Today look downwards and say thank you to them. Without them life wouldn't be so easy! Grab a clean cloth and wipe them for a second to show how grateful you are. Their smile will be your reward.
And finally, my new friend, the fresh blood of our team, Fablamaca proudly presents, “Browny”!
 Dynamic and Energetic!

and Sexy!
About stories to tell, I never realized that My Green Nikes literally had a story to tell me for a very long time because I'd never looked this close before this photo shooting. If you look carefully, you'll see...

Full writing: 'ONE MORNING IN 1971, BILL BOWERMAN WAS STRUCK WITH A GREAT IDEA, SITTING DOWN FOR BREAKFAST, HE SAW HIS WIFE'S WAFFLE IRON AND ENVISIONED USING IT TO CREATE SOLES FOR HIS SHOES. A FEW RUBBER CHIPS AND SEVERAL ATTEMPTS LATER, BILL SUCCESSFULLY MADEWHAT BECAME THE "WAFFLE SOLE". TESTING THE IDEA ON ATHLETES, THE SHOES PROVIDED LIGHT-WEIGHT TRACTION FOR RUNNERS EVERYWHERE. IN 1973, THE WAFFLESOLE WAS SOLD TO THE WORLD AS THE "OREGON WAFFLE" '

We'll say goodbye to you with a photo from our photo shooting which we enjoyed a lot. Thanks for reading and don't forget to say thanks to your "friends" today.

Google Search Stories

Have you heard about "Google Search Stories"?

Maybe you have but honestly I just found them last night while searching for some recent ads. And I just love them!
What a brilliant idea that bringing up someone's google search as a story because it is a story, indeed. Everytime you search for something, there is a purpose behind it. Could you please look at yourself for a second. You need to get somewhere but you don't know the direction, what do you do? GOOGLE SEARCH! You need to find a book which you couldn't find in the book shop, what do you do? GOOGLE SEARCH! You need some information about your homework at school, what do you do? GOOGLE SEARCH!

Ok, this is not a news. I know that. The point is, all of these searchs have their story. You need to go that place because you need to meet that new girl you met 2 weeks ago at science museum. You need that book because it is a present for your mum who madly in love with author's all works and you want to surprise her with this just released book because you want to have the car for the weekend to go to that bla bla festival. You also need to work that homework out otherwise Mrs. Smith will kick your ass so hard at school for this homework is your last chance to pass her lesson and so on.

From this point of view every search is unic and special because they all serve for different purposes and are a part of different stories.

We are so well connected with the technology, so that I can't imagine not having google around. I can do without internet, with out facebook for instance but it feels like google is so essential and I find this amazingly awkward! For example I don't know when I checked one of those big, yellow paged phone books last time to find a number. Do you? It is history now. What do we do? GOOGLE SEARCH! it's that simple. If you asked an elementary student, you'd get the same answer, GOOGLE IT!

I also realized, every writing of mine is another search story. If I'm not sure about a phrase or idiom I google it to make sure it is correct. Here we go! Yet another story.

This is enough prattle. I'll leave you with my favourite search story, Parisian Love but I simply love them all. There are only 8 of them so far. I also reccomend "Out of Office" and "Winter Games" but I'm pretty sure you'll watch all of them. Because we are all curious about stories.

Enjoy!

An Awkward Finding

While the sun was setting, we were continuing our not yet finished sightseeing in Warsaw. Only three of us: Me, Kasia and Graham. Passing Pilsudski Squarethe Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and , we are approaching the place where the theory was first suggested and also inspired: Metropolitan Building.

Graham is the person who put the idea in our minds in the first place, who managed to walked around the city by himself and was trying to enlight us with the knowledge where he claimed from a guide book. While we walk into the inner court of Metropolitan Building he is explaining: “The architecht of this building is also the architecht of  'the Gherkin' in London. Norman Foster.” He also knows that we know 'the Gherkin' nicknamed building very well as we are quite familiar to London.

Before long, we are sitting on one of the benchs in the public inner court of the building. From a bird's eye, this building looks like a triangle with a perfect circle inside and we are looking at this circular inner court from inside and making comments about it. After couple words, Kasia suggests the theory: “Do you think 'the Gherkin' would fit in this court?”

This suggestion started the brain storm! The original name of 'the Gherkin' nicknamed building is 'Swiss Re HQ'. The headquarter of the famous insurance company Swiss Re. For the building's physical appearance associates with somewhat sexual objects, I'd made some certain comments about it long before we met Metropolitan Building. While we sit in the inner court of Metropolitan Building and look around, a question is starting to disturb us: “What if Metropolitan Building also has a connection to a sexual object?”

Two “world-famous” buildings. Swiss Re HQ from London and Metropolitan Building from Warsaw. The connection between them is obvious as their architecht is the same. Which sexual objects the buildings associate is also obvious for the buildings' physical appearances are highly distinctive. We are still sitting in the court discussing wheter this two buildings would “fit” each other or not, perhaps the architecht hid a secret message in the architecture of these buildings and even if he did such thing, what an excellent job he did doing this in front of entire world but not letting anyone anticipating what was actually going on. We were also documenting this via recording a video and at that moment something sitting in the middle of the inner court attracted our attention. Circular, flat, integrated to the ground and it has holes. This time it's Kasia's turn to enlight us as she is a local in Warsaw: “It's a fountain, a sprinkler.” So, we found out that the object in the middle of the court was a sprinkler which performs special shows time to time. In this case Metropolitan Building is a triangle from a bird's eye, there is a circular hole in it's centre and water gushs out from this hole! NO WAY!

In our minds everything is in the right place. Norman Foster has an obvious message to tell via these two buildings but we need proof. We need to compare the dimensions of the buildings.

Our holiday came to an end and we went back to England on November 15th. Graham did his homework and he posted this message on his facebook on November 18th:

"Graham Archbold can confirm that theoretically you could stand the Swiss Re building (Gherkin) inside Warsaw's Biurowiec Metropolitan as the base diameters are 49m and 50m respectively. However, the Gherkin is 56.5m at its widest point so you couldn't insert it in the sense proposed by our Turkish friend. Or at least it would be an un...comfortable fit. Only Norman Foster knows why."

If you would like to check the details, here they are:

The Gherkin, London: Base diameter of the building is 49.3 m but it gets 56.5 m at 17th floor where  the widest point is. The building is 180 m long.

Metropolitan Building, Warsaw: The diameter of the inner court is 50 m. The building has 7 floors and it looks like a triangle from a bird's eye.

According to the evidences, it is theoretically possible to place the Gherkin in Metropolitan Building's “hole” but we wouldn't be able to get the Gherkin through Metropolitan Building. I have to say this is even better than I expected. The diameters are so close which makes me say “it would fit if you pushed a little harder.” Like Graham said: “an uncomfortable fit.” Interesting.
I would like to say, the suggestion we came up with is no more than a hypothesis. Norman Foster is a knight in United Kingdom and a respectable architecth known around the world who built many masterpieces with his innovative perspective. His company Foster and Partners won over 300 awards and accomplished countless projects. We have no intention to harm or disrespect his or their remarkable reputation. This theory only can prove that our perception goes further than what we see or what we read but nothing else.

However, the outlook of these two buildings and their harmony is undeniably suspicious and perhaps Norman Foster is the only person who knows the truth. Perhaps these buildings represents a secret message from England to Poland. Perhaps they are small pieces of a bigger picture which we are not capable of seeing.

Perhaps it's just our paranoia...

Respectfully;
Fatih Mıstaçoğlu

Special thanks:

Kasia Tomaszewska
Graham Archbold

Grey's Anatomy Season 5 Bloopers

If you know me a little bit, it generally means that you know that I love Grey's Anatomy! I even wrote about it in this blog long ago. 8.March.2007 to be exact. (Link to the past!) That writing is in Turkish I'm afraid, long before I started to write in English.

For my English readers, I was talking about Grey's Anatomy's amazingly complicated story around a teaching hospital and Grey's 5 interns who are in the centre of the story. If you watch Grey's Anatomy, you know what I'm talking about. You know dark and twisted sisters, you know 007, you know stevens and karev. It's not all, you must also know "the nazi", McDreamy and also McSteamy and so on. If you don't (but you like watching tv shows) you must do something about it because you miss a lot!

There is a useful link for all tv show freaks (like me):

http://www.cucirca.com/

Start watching Grey's Anatomy because it's seriously good. "Seriously!"

If you don't want to watch, FINE!

In U.S. the 6th season is on air right know and if you are new around here, you have plenty to watch! How cool!

However, advertising Grey's Anatomy is not the purpose of this writing after all. I recently watched a video (thanks to Kash) from Grey's Anatomy and I hadn't laughed that much for a long time. If you are a Grey's Anatomy lover, I'm sure you'll enjoy this bloopers video. If you've never watched Grey's, probably it won't make any sense. Perhaps you can watch a few seasons and come back...

O.K. No more words. There is the video. Have fun!

--------------------------------------------

Buyrun:

http://www.cucirca.com/

Craft Fair the 1st

Do you remember Worqshop?

It was the first post of 2010 regarding to a new blog from a young Polish blogger who is infinitely supported by me.

Owner of Worqshop, Kasia, carried her scrapbooking and craft love one step forward and took place in a small but elite craft fair in Tunbridge Wells yesterday.

The appearance maybe wasn't a huge success on financial basis but the first (and the hardest) step has taken and I'm looking forward to see the next craft fair. If you show some courage and put your heart in what you're doing, nothing can stop you.

I congratulate her about her great start and I'm sure next time will be totally awesome!

I wish the best of luck for Kasia on her new challenge.
